Fallout Series - Nuka-Cola Quantum!

Hello everyone, and welcome to my third blog post and gaming inspired food/beverage experiment for BOSS BATTLE EATS! For today's recipe, I admit it is a bit of a simple one, and one that any one of you could make in a matter of minutes - so please forgive me if this blog post is a little bit shorter than my others. Anyways, simple or not, I took inspiration this week from the Fallout series! Fallout, originally created and released in 1997, is a long running and critically acclaimed role playing series originally created by Interplay, and eventually Bethesda Game Studios. The Fallout series is known for it's dark humor, post apocalyptic world, and diverse cast of characters. There have been 4-5 (depending on who you ask) mainline titles within the Fallout series, and plenty of spin offs taking place within the same post apocalyptic world (although we don't talk about Fallout 76). I chose Fallout as this week's inspiration partially due to all of you! In case you aren't familiar, I ran a poll on my social media pages to see what you guys wanted to see this week, and Fallout won! And so, the inspiration for today's recipe is from the Fallout series (of which, 3 and New Vegas are my favorite entries!)

If you didn't know, the Fallout series takes place in a nuclear devastated post apocalyptic world. A world where - despite the devastation - plenty of soft drinks and packaged foods still litter the world. I mention this point specifically because the beverage I decided to create this week is the well known Nuka-Cola Quantum (obviously a parody of Coca-Cola, and one that highlights Fallout's strange sense of humor). Here is what Nuka Cola Quantum looks like in game:

As you may or may not be able to tell from this photo, Nuka-Cola Quantum is known for it's bright blue glow, or, a bottle that gives off light! (perhaps from the radioactivity??). So, in creating my version, I wanted to recreate this effect the best I could. So, how did I do it? Well, for this creation, I followed the following recipe:

1/4 cup Hawaiian Punch (the blue kind, or a mix of the blue and purple kinds)

1/4 cup Blue Raspberry Sunny Delight

3/4 cup Soda Water (you can also use Tonic Water to make it UV reactive but it will make the taste bitter)

1/2 tbs Vanilla Syrup

As well, I obviously had to print off a Nuka-Cola Quantum label, and get an old fashioned glass soda bottle to use for presentation. Again, this recipe is MUCH more simple than previous recipes (especially considering the steps are very simple), but it still ended up looking really cool, and tasting very good! I found this recipe on geekychef.com, and you can find the recipe I followed here: http://www.geekychef.com/2014/05/nuka-cola-quantum.html. I highly recommend you check it out!

Anyways, even though it was an easy recipe, it was a lot of fun to create! To create the perfect presentation, I bought some Coca-Cola in classic glass bottles, and printed off a label to attach to these bottles to make them look like authentic Nuka-Colas. As well, I made sure to shine a light underneath the bottle after filling it with liquid to give it an authentic wasteland radioactive glow. I think the final product turned out really good! Here are some pictures of how mine turned out:

As promised, due to the simplicity of the Nuka-Cola Quantum recipe, there isn't a ton of explanation needed, but I hope you still enjoyed reading, and it made you thirsty. It tasted amazing, in case you were wondering! I definitely recommend if you wanted to try making one, that you give it a try and let me know how it goes. I am now a firm believer that for any Fallout fans, this is a must try! Again, if you liked this blog, or want to stay updated on my future escapades, please check out my social media pages here:

As well, following these pages will keep you updated on what gaming food experiment is next, and I imagine if you're reading this you're interested in finding out! So please be sure to give it a follow. Anyways, I guess we're 3 for 3 in terms of success stories on this blog, so that is very exciting! Is next week the week where I drop the ball? Who knows! I hope not, food is expensive! I look forward to finding out though, and continuing Boss Battle Eats to continue my food experiments.

Thanks for reading another gaming food experiment blog, and I hope to see you again soon at BOSS BATTLE EATS!
